I already have a decent joystick and I think that at my old age I can live without VR, nevertheless, I'll definitely have to buy a new graphics card (alas prices soared because of the bitcoin craze) and a power supply, which means the hardware cost will be 3 to 4 times the price of Condor2, or 15 to 20 times the price of a plane pack.

So basically (especially for non-gamers), the investment in hardware to run Condor at a reasonable level will far exceed the cost of the software itself.

Whilst I still have my trusty FFB2, and Track IR, and a mid range graphic card from a couple of years ago (GXT950 - performs well), I still had to design the base PC to be sufficient and maintain that in addition to the mac that I now use for day to day computing. That's before you get into a decent joystick, and some kind of hardware to assist in panning or 3D/VR. Even a decent graphics card will exceed the price of the basic game, and probably most of the already announced of add-on planes as well. The amount of investment in hardware for those who don't already have a gaming standard rig for other games, or the cost of upgrading a rig that was good enough for Condor V1, but would struggle for V2. Then I factored in that the higher price band of planes are in fact two classes of the same basic glider, the amount of time that they apparently take to engineer, and the fact that a variety of designers will need to be compensated through the sales, it became more understandable. My initial thought when I say the add-on planes was to do a double take.
